Adults Weekly Art Classes

Weekly art classes with local Pambula artist Vikki Jackson, ranging from Penwork scribble, mixed media painting, sculpture & ink painting. A series of 4 x 2-hour classes for $120 (to be used in succession with 2 make up classes for illness or emergencies) or casual rates of $39 payable by the beginning of each class if spaces available.

Learn penwork techniques that create texture and depth to a drawing. Hatching & cross-hatching that can be used in drawing inanimate objects such as buildings creating shadows under roofs etc. Using varying degrees of darkness & give your drawing a 3D perspective. Stippling is the use of small dots to create texture & light.

Varied line weight is using lighter, finer lines for distant elements (like background trees) and heavier, darker lines for foreground elements to create depth. Using loose, flowing lines can be used to suggest the natural movement of foliage and vegetation surrounding a structure. Negative space is where some areas are untouched, allowing the white of the paper to represent highlights and using darker penwork around the image to create contrast making the object stand out. This drawing technique increases your drawing abilities as you study the designs in nature & all around us.

Acrylic ink based mixed media is a fun & easy way to start a painting. Create a background with a dynamic wash of colours that blend and flow into each other, creating a dreamy, watercolor-like effect. Finish up using a variety of other mediums such as acrylic paint, tissue paper, sand or whatever takes your fancy.

Create a fabulous & fun sculpture using recycling such as plastic drink bottles, meat trays, cardboard & styrofoam. Turn unwanted trash into something beautiful, such as a mosaic turtle or a fairy house.
